From time to time the Art Gallery of Western Australia arranges special Teacher Previews of our exhibitions and other events. Teacher Previews are held at the Gallery, unless otherwise stated.

Would you like to find out more about AGWA’s major international exhibition for 2015 Treasure Ships: Art in the Age of Spices and how you can incorporate content from the exhibition into your Term IV teaching program?

Treasure Ships: Art in the Age of Spices contains amazing artworks, objects and artefacts produced for global markets in the era of the spice trade across the Indian Ocean. The content covers different learning areas such as Visual Arts, Design, History, Geography, Literature and Language, Asian Studies and Science and the cross-curriculum priorities Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures and histories and Asia and Australia’s engagement with Asia.

Come along to this special preview of the exhibition for primary, secondary and tertiary teachers. You will enjoy an introduction to the themes and content of the exhibition by AGWA Director Stefano Carboni, followed by a slide show displaying highlights of the exhibition and a detailed look at the comprehensive Education Resource that has been produced for this show.
