Included in the workshop will be a guided tour of the exhibition with AGWA’s Curator of Contemporary Design and International Art, Robert Cook and three of the visting artists on display in the exhibition; Tommi Parrish (AUS), Ron Regé Jr (USA) and Emma Talbot (UK) who will explain the intricacies of their work and their practice.
Join a two hour practical session in the Education Studio where comic artist and enthusiast Campbell Whyte will take you through some comic writing techniques, transferrable to the classroom. Campbell’s practice is primarily located within the realm comics, a field in which he has been teaching a wide range of audiences. He teaches regular comics making courses for primary and high school students at the milktooth project space, and also runs the monthly Comics Maker Network for adult practitioners.
The workshop will also provide you with links between the content of Comic Tragics and the Visual Arts, Media Arts and English curriculum. This workshop is open to all primary and secondary teachers, but the content will be particularly relevant for secondary Visual Arts and Media Arts classes.
