Art in Bloom

Art in Bloom, organised by the Friends of the Art Gallery of Western Australia, was the floral extravaganza of 2010.

Thousands of flowers and plants filled the Gallery as artists, designers, media personalities, students and others create floral responses to over 120 exhibited works of art, reflecting the works from the State Art Collection.

The People's Choice Award went to the two works below:

Kirsten Dawson and Annalise Delfos respond to Shane Pickett’s Calling for Rain – The Wanyarang Suite

Alister Yiap's response to Bill Henson’s Untitled Sequence, which also won the Packers and Conservators' Prize.


The exhibition opened to the public on the weekend of Friday
17 – Sunday 19 September

All the proceeds raised will be used by the Friends of the Art Gallery to assist with acquiring new artworks for the State Art Collection.


The winners of the Raffle held in conjunction with Art in Bloom were as follows:         1st    Colma Keating - Accommodation at Quay West Resort, Bunker Bay          2nd    Don Ramsay - Esola package                                                               3rd    Joe Chindarsi - Friends' membership and associated benefits

City in Bloom

In conjunction with Art in Bloom, Friday 17- Sunday 19 September, the City of Perth decorated various public sculptures, shop windows and the city's built environment with botanical art installations.

Kings Park Festival

The annual Kings Park Festival is on again this September. In this International Year of Biodiversity, the festival will celebrate both people and plants in the heart of Western Australia’s Botanic Gardens, surrounded by wildflowers in all their spectacular springtime glory.
