IFAC Grants Winners

The Art Gallery of Western Australia is thrilled to host the Year 12 Perspectives exhibition, celebrating the creative talents of our next generation of artists. It recognises the magnificent achievements of 2009’s Year 12 Art and Art and Design students from across Western Australia.

In addition to having their work exhibited in the Gallery, the students were also invited to apply for two International Foundation for Arts and Culture (IFAC) grants. Valued at $5000 each, both grants foster the creative development of the successful students.

The IFAC Chairman’s Travel Grant will give the successful candidate the opportunity to travel to Japan to pursue their artistic practice in the context of a new cultural environment. The IFAC Arts and Culture Grant contributes to the purchase of equipment and/or training to assist the student’s development in a creative endeavour of their choice.

An important component of the Year 12 Perspectives exhibition is the inclusion of a selection of works by Japanese students in the Perth exhibition. Reciprocally, a selection of WA student works will travel to Japan for inclusion in the IFAC annual High School Arts Festival in July. As part of this IFAC funded affiliation we are delighted to be welcoming some of the Japanese students to Perth for the IFAC awards presentation.
