Drawn from the Tate Gallery's outstanding holding, The Pre-Raphaelite Dream combined iconic paintings with less well-known works by the major artists of the movement; setting the work of the Pre-Raphaelites in their aesthetic, social and historical context. The subject matter represented, included medievalism and modern life, themes from literature, women, love and sex.
