special INVITATION
Would you like to know more about Design?
Five lecturers from Central Institute of Technology are presenting a series of lectures to AGWA's Volunteer Guides, and Friends of AGWA are invited to join the classes. Each of the lecturers has a great deal of specialist knowledge that they will be relating to visual art and architecture, with lots of wonderful images to illustrate the links.
Although the series has started, this Friday (22 March) is only the third lecture in the series, and there are still 16 presentations to go. At $130 for the entire series, it is still a bargain to sign up now!
Apart from being a window on design in general, the Design Series is a great intro to the upcoming MoMA exhibition Counter Space and related exhibitions
The emphasis in most gallery exhibitions tends to be on painting and sculpture, but AGWA also has extensive collections of design and craft. This series will extend understandings of these applied and decorative disciplines, and provide a vocab to appreciate and critique the work, as well as highlight the inter-relatedness of all the arts
Anyone who would like to join in can just show up at 1:30 (or a bit earlier) on Friday 22 March (or even at the 4th lecture on Friday 5 April)
